The Rebirth of the city that rock and roll built
From Manufacturing to Medical Capital
While all eyes are on Cleveland as the Nation’s Medical Capital these days, manufacturing has made a comeback! Business First analyzed 100 cities based on recent labor statistics and reported that Cleveland ranked 2nd, behind San Jose, in largest gains in manufacturing employment between December 2009 and December 2010.
At the same time, the Brookings Institution and London School of Economics listed Northeast Ohio’s recovery in its Top 10 list. The region’s recovery is listed as number 10 nationwide and 49 worldwide.
In downtown Cleveland alone, there is currently over a billion dollars worth of development underway including a new Caesar’s Casino, Medical Mart and Convention Center, Flats West Bank Aquarium, Flats East Bank business center/hotel, the new Gallery at Old Stone, theater projects and partnerships (in what is already the Nation’s second largest theater district) to name just a few of the things making Cleveland hot, hot, hot!
